FREE $$$ (pronounced FREE MONEY) began in 2016 as three boys in search of their sound. It consists of Ben Petrisor on guitar and vocals, Simen Husmo on bass, and Frank Moran on drums and occasional yells. Their first EP brought their post-punk sound to the foreground while still searching for that kick they needed.
In late 2018, after countless practices, shows, and free drink tokens, something clicked. They found the sound they were searching for on their second EP, “Support*” which was released through DIM Things. Laced with guttural groans, frustrated energy, and, as they say, “a bit of cheekiness”, this EP served as a gateway that would propel them through the Brooklyn music scene and eventually land them a second place prize at the Our Wicked Lady Winter Madness (a fancy name for battle of the bands). Before the pandemic kicked them right in the groin and brought them to a stand still, FREE $$$ was so busy kickin’ ass that they forgot to take names.
